It all began in 2007 when Timewarp (Angelos Stoumpos) decided to create a compilation dedicated to freestyle and funk music. The idea was to introduce these genres to a wider audience and showcase the best tracks from established and up-and-coming artists from his label, Timewarp Music.

After careful consideration, he settled on a list of tracks that would form the backbone of the compilation that would be a true representation of the freestyle and funk genres, so it persevered.

Finally, in 2008, Freestyle 4 Funk was released on CD and digitally. The compilation was praised for its selection of tracks and the way it showcased the best of the freestyle and funk tracks from the label.

Buoyed by the success of the first volume, Timewarp went on to release 8 more Freestyle 4 Funk compilations to date. The series has become one of the label's most popular, and a go-to for fans of freestyle and funk music. Looking back, Timewarp Music is proud of what they've accomplished with the Freestyle 4 Funk series. They've introduced many people to these genres, helped new artists get discovered, and created a timeless collection of music that will be enjoyed for years to come. Our brand new Freestyle 4 Funk 9 is divided into four different volumes with hashtags: #Funk, #Disco, #Tropicaldub and #Downtempo.
