Live without a laptop, the six-piece, Washington DC-based band House of Soul fuses the seamless and entrancing sets of an underground club DJ with the stirring sounds of live master performers. Like a good DJ, the band reads and reacts to the dancers, weaving improvised grooves, "remixes" of classic selections, and original tunes into non-stop sets that keep devoted dancers sweating.
In June 2011, House of Soul released their debut album, “Let’s Move,” which boasts ten hot original tracks penned by bandleader and bassist Matt Grason, vocal phenom Rochelle Rice, internationally renown saxophonist Jon Irabagon, and rock-bottom drummer Charles Ostle.
Timewarp Music’s single EP release of House of Soul’s track "Push It" features the original track – a live disco-funk throwdown complete a booty-moving electric clavinet hook, Rice’s flirtatious vocals (“’Cause we step out in our high-heeled shoes and a slim-fit dress waitin’ to be taken…”) and searing sax solos by Irabagon.
Two remixers support the release. First, Kid Stretch serves up a steamy remix of “Push It” in the hugely funky breakbeat style he’s known for. The second remix features Gaspar’s clean disco-house vibes -- both dance floor- and radio-friendly at the same time.
With all this gyration-inducing funk, what is one to do? The answer is simple, of course: Push It, baby.
House of Soul - Push It will be available on July 9 2012 for sale in special edition CDR and digital
